Addiction is neither a disease nor a choice. I think you’ve laid it out clearly. People get trapped by highly addictive substances that impact their brain chemistry. It is not their fault, but it is their responsibility to break the addiction. Many succeed and many fail. I am not a dr. or scientist, I see it as a disorder of a trapped brain, overwhelmed by highly addictive substances that are too readily available. Especially alcohol.
